Snaking your drain may resolve problem

If your toilet makes a gurgling sound, that may mean you have a much more significant problem in your plumbing. However, it could also be an issue that can be fixed relatively simply.

If the plumbing vent line was improperly installed, or it is obstructed, that can also be the reason. Vents can easily become obstructed by dead animals, ice or snow. If you are having them installed, make sure your contractor attaches an extension piece to reduce snow- and ice-related problems. You should also consider covering the end with a piece of sturdy cloth held in pace by a clamp. This will keep animals from falling in.

There may be a blockage in your sewer line that is causing the problem. You may be able to use a plunger or a snake to get to the obstruction, but if it is too far the line then you’ll need to call a plumber. In some instances of particularly stubborn obstructions, a plumber may need to use a water jet to thoroughly scour the line.
